Isomerism
name of the chapter: Isomerism
Content Provider: FIITJEE
Lecturer from FIITJEE
NCERT content :
isomerism, the existence of molecules that have the same numbers of the same kinds of atoms (and hence the same formula) but differ in chemical and physical properties. ... Such structures also would be analogous to isomers.
In chemistry, isomers are molecules or polyatomic ions with identical molecular formulas — that is, the same number of atoms of each element — but distinct arrangements of atoms in space. Isomerism is the existence or possibility of isomers. Isomers do not necessarily share similar chemical or physical properties
Isomerism is the phenomenon in which compounds have the same molecular formula but different structures and these different structures are called isomers. Isomers are those that have different physical and chemical properties.
